Question

Answer

01

Yes

Obviously, so it is clear what the bill covers and equally what it does not cover.

02

No

A better and more precise way to achieve this might be to only include Autism in the autism bill, but draft another bill for other neurological conditions.

03

Yes

I believe integrating other third sector organisations such a MIND may be helpful, as long as this is voluntary and not over regulated.

04

Yes

I've seen the NHS fail and not been held responsible for not supporting those with ASD so I believe some safeguards should be put in place.

05

Use the time for extensive research- the better you understand all aspects of the situation the better the bill will be.

06

As above.

07

I think that's reasonable.

08

No, I think the Assembly should take control of this issue.

09

Yes

Autistic people tend to be stressed by uncertainty so a short time is preferable.

10

Yes

11

advocate.

12

Some autistic people (including me) just can't stand official systems (sorry), but I do not think there is anything to be done to change this. I run my own autism support groups and stay as independent as I can.

13

Yes

14

General demographics in case patterns can be found and learned from.

15

It should be written on the Bill.

16

Yes

Third sector organisations have a lot of experience of how ASD affects people in real life and how they might be better supported. I've learned a lot about this from running support groups.

17

It should happen all the time.

All the autistic people I've asked say that the one thing that would make a big positive different in their lives would be if neurotypical people were better informed and accepting about autism.

18

I don't think it will affect me personally, but in time I'll see what the affect is on the people who come to my support groups, which is why getting feedback from the third sector is vital to improving the situation.

19

Writing a good bill isn't difficult, it's making sure the system really helps in real life that is problematic- as I've seen with the Integrated Autism Service, which has been good in some cases and worse that useless in others.
